I Remember Of A Time Poem by Nathan Barkley

I Remember Of A Time

I remember of a time
Where everyone had only joy on their minds.
No worries, No fights
Nothing to sacrifice
What a nostalgic paradise

I remember of a time
where my mom and dad
They were never sad
I was so glad.
Waking up with my mom's kisses
Getting to the table as my dad finishes
His breakfast
With a smile and a hug
He tell's me
'Make me proud son'
' I got to run'
Leaving me with the warmth of love
My mom felt it too, so she gave us both a hug.
So he left, leaving us to finish our food.
This life I really could of got used to.

I remember of a time
Where I never heard of anything about to die.
I just let out a sigh
Watching the endless sky
Unfold my life
Pretending I guess
That happiness revolved around everyone's life.

Yet i fell into reality,
where everything eventually is going to die.
Everyone seemed to be blind with insanity.
Everyone is so shy,
Never revealing how they really feel inside.
But i see it within their eyes
They want a shoulder to cry on.
I guess it because of the mess we are in
I guess it's because all along we have sinned.
Do we deserve all these diseases?
What are we supposed to do with our existence?
Do we deserve all this pain?
What are we supposed to do with all this inborn hate?
Are we all just fake?

I remember of a time
where my mom was alive
Telling me to be careful when I went outside
I didn't understand at the time,
I thought everything was going to be fine.
I thank her for all the caring she gave me
She watched me grow until I was seventeen.
I wonder if she is proud of me?

I remember of a time
Where my dad didn't try
To hide the pain inside, not wanting to cry.
He would hold me in his arms
Tears just flow out of both our hearts
'We got to be strong'
'We got to live on'
He said. I looked into his eyes, they were red
'I wish I was dead'
I said.
He understood me back then
He held me closer
I still felt my mom's love through him
...back then...
