I Resign Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Resign

I resign

At the door I stand; but inside
Shoes many, a mirror to the right
In the way I see them, they too talk
Some; are couples in line; in love
With concern they date, mate.
Some couples face apart; they fight
I look in full mirror on right wall
Old man bent, weary, and uptight
Complains as he does all the time
I want to utter words but shut up
"You fed me with her food; why? "
Words bubble in throat up and down.
Complains of his house and his wife
Sure rooted in his past, patriarchs
I replace the old man, he is gone
"Is he not a lesson, let's be wise? "
I tell me and decide "To them all
I will write, apologize."

And I do; they are deaf with no heart.
I resign.
