I's Tired Poem by Claude H Oliver II

I's Tired

Rating: 5.0

I's tired
I worked my fingers to the bone
Used my mind ‘til I was worn
I's tired
Carried nine kids - nine months apiece
Raised those nine - 18 years apiece
Weary from them leaning on me
I's tired
Farmed this land from sun to sun
Endured slings and arrows from most everyone
Sick and ill yet kept on
I's tired
Years took their toll in this place
Ready I am for this earth's embrace
I's tired
Come, O' day of my last breath
Then I will no longer say
I's tired
