I Sat On A Mountain Praying / My Selfish Heart Poem by Juan Olivarez

I Sat On A Mountain Praying / My Selfish Heart

Rating: 5.0

I sat on a mountain praying, up high and all alone.
For the lord to hear my prayer, and somehow get me home.
I felt the breeze rustle my hair, my eyes could see for miles.
But my heart was selfish, Now I know, Like a spoiled little child's.
Though there was beauty all around, at the time I couldn't see.
That God was there talking alone, he couldn't get to me.
I should have listened to his words, that he whispered in my ears.
But my selfish heart just would not listen, now I fight back tears.
I sat on a mountain praying, Up high and all alone.
And never realized that all along, I finally was home.

This is wonderful Juan, I like it very much. The whole mountain-top experience is grand.
