I Saw A Thunderbolt Exploding Poem by Gert Strydom

I Saw A Thunderbolt Exploding

I saw a thunderbolt exploding,
hitting a tree and splitting it,
cleaving it open from top to roots,
causing it to fall down trembling,
throwing off some leaves,
some of the knotted weaver nests
and screeching those little birds
were flying in fear and amok.
