I See Clearly Poem by Lissa White

I See Clearly

I see clearly
A list of all my weaknesses
According to societies standards
I know my faults well
They are written for all to see
On these four walls that surround me
The home of my youth
I fled many years ago
And now I am back
To do what no one else would do

I see clearly
As I stand up and admit my mistakes
To the whole world
I do not hide by being fake
I get tired of others reminding me
Of all my failings
Can’t they just let me be
But I am me
The only person I know how to be
With thoughts, feelings and beliefs
No matter who gives me grief

I see clearly
All that I am
All that I will ever be
For the rest of my life
I am a kind person
I am a good person
And they could see that
If they looked beyond their judgments
And clear away the fog
So they can see as clearly as me
