I See The Way You Look At Her Poem by Crystal Johnson

I see the way you look at her,
Like she’s the example of perfection, there in the flesh.
I see the way you long to be with her,
You stare at her hands as if they’re yours to hold.
I see the way you touch her,
It’s almost like you’re afraid to shatter her.
I see the way you hold her,
You hold her as if you’re afraid she’ll fall, without you to catch her.
I see the way you comfort her,
Like soothing her will make her love you more.
I see the way you caress her face,
As if you’re afraid her beauty will rub off on your hands.

How can you put this girl on a pedestal?
How can you pretend that she means the world to you?
How can you let her treat you so badly when you know you deserve so much more?

She isn’t perfect.
She isn’t beautiful.
She isn’t fragile….
She isn’t even yours.

She isn’t the girl you think she is.
She may say you’re her one and only,
But I know the truth.
She’s playing you,
She knows you’re a fool.
She knows you will buy into any lie she feeds you.
She tells you only what you want to hear.
Why can’t you see the way she deceives you?
She isn’t really what she seems to appear.
How can you be so foolish?
You’re focused on the girl that only uses you,
And not the one that could really love you.

I can be everything, if not more than she is.
I want to be the one that you look at and immediately fall in love with.
I want you to see me as you do her.
I want to be able to hold you and show you what love really is.
But you just have to give me a chance.

She doesn’t deserve you.
She doesn’t deserve to be catered to.
You treat her so well, and get nothing in return.
I want to be the one to give you everything you need.
I want to be the one to love you unconditionally.
I know that I can, but I just need the opportunity.
I yearn to be that girl.
The one that’s in your arms day and night.
The one that you see as your whole world.
The one that you love, even though she doesn’t treat you right.
But, I guess I’ll never have that chance.

She has you hypnotized.
She has you mesmerized.
And I can’t even get you to glance.
