I Set A Candle Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

I Set A Candle

Rating: 4.5

I set a candle
On the table
And waited for you to come.

The candle shed
Tears of wax
And hardened on my face numb.

I sat waxing
And then waning
Impatient to see you my dear.

The light was gone
And darkness dawned
But you came nowhere near.

But in the darkness
I saw a glimmer of hope
Is that you coming, my moon?

Or were it my eyes
Deprived of your sight
Ensnaring me in the gloom?

A candle was lit to welcome someone! But the candle died gradually shedding tears of wax. No one came and you were left in darkness! But all hope was not lost! You could see another glimmer of light! In darkness, we see glimmer of light and this makes us live on! Beautiful poem!

A Beautiful candle light was set for meeting, painful to know all the candle burnt down into tears. A wonderful poem from your pen. Loved reading it.
