I Sleep With An Angel Poem by Alexander Beebe

I Sleep With An Angel

Rating: 4.5

The sunlight squeezed through the gap in the blinds
and tickled my eyes till my dreams went to sleep.
Three minutes remain till the alarm will go off,
so I stare at her sleeping and whisper her name.

I whisper it softly as not to awake her
like a sailor who calls for his love while at sea.
It’s simply a hunger that lives deep inside me
that longs for this woman who rests next to me.

Like an art lover’s passion for the beauty of lines
her silhouette captures my eyes and my mind.
Her breathing like music caresses my ears
a faint melody that my heart loves to hear.

My three minute recess has come to an end.
She opens her eyes as I close mine again.
Her soft gentle touch combs through my hair
I pretend to awake as she greets with a stare.

I think to myself how blessed is my life
to have such an angel to have such a wife.
She lives in my dreams when my day
is at end. But those dreams all come true
when I see her again.
