I Spare Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I Spare

Rating: 5.0

'I spare your life today'
As it is not my way
To deal with wolves and vultures
They must be left to their fate and suffer

I am burning with rage
Still anger very much inside to wage
Punish all those who act as an animal
They are curse on earth and shameless as human

I could do many things to punish
I could have taken out his life to finish
But something stopped me from doing it
As I considered it not even worth to call fit

He did all damage to my modesty
Did whatever he could to show my dishonesty
Kept no chance open to show my face
Reduced all my hopes to ashes

Not that as woman I had no will power
Something stopped me from taking action however
He had done shameful act altogether
He was now begging for life and willing to share

He was blinded by outer show
He will follow me wherever I go
I had no fear that he may turn outrageous
It was totally unexpected and heinous

Very often males tend to ask for apology
To come out of tight situation sometimes express sorry
Leave all burdens for girls to carry
Never turn up to take up care and worry

I am not in position to cry even
The development was quick and all of sudden
He had followed me everywhere and got successful
Now I may repent whole life and remain remorseful

ANALIA FREE P.. Thank you for awakening consciousness of violence against women. After beating always come the sorries, the roses and the never-agains... don´t trust them, a man who beats a woman will do it again for sure.

Tribhawan Kaul Your first stanza shows the helplessness of the protagonist. A touchy write. :) 2 minutes ago · Like
