I Stand And Wonder Poem by JoAnn McGrath

I Stand And Wonder

I Stand And Wonder
I stand at the shores edge
The pull of the water takes the ground
that I though solid
from under my feet...
...and I stumble...

Is it a new wave
never viewed before
coming to shore?

Am I the first ever to witness
this sole obsolesce

Or is this a ancestral crest
carrying life's manifest?

...I stand and wonder...

There is something primal in our attraction to water - a first order compulsion, perhaps we're supposed to go back! Rgds, Ivan

JoAnn, the pull of the water has always been strong to me living on the coast of a famous naval port. I love to walk along the waters edge and look at the waves rolling in, always wondering what travels they've had before reaching the shore before me. I have the hiss they make ringing in my ears now. Beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing it my friend. David
