(i Still Miss) You Poem by Effie Yalena Steyn

(i Still Miss) You

I miss you like a part of me
has gone. Pain, like my right arm
deserted me for a day.
I think about you all the time
and even then more. Its not
enough to know you're alive.
Not when alive is separate
and distanced. The life I want
should be by my side.
I miss you like somebody
turned out the light. I'll fight
for that switch. That piece of you
that will make me shine again.
I border on obsession, but am
faultless in this. It is you, and your
entrancing effect.
Je te vends mon âme if you would
give me yours. Behind closed doors
I'll keep on wanting you.
It's getting to distraction, seeing
a new freckle. And wanting to touch
it right there, I hold back.
Unnecessarily, not when I know
I am wanted too. I still miss
you.
