I try to be like David Bowie,
But I just don’t have that guy’s style
I try to be like John Lennon,
But I just don’t have his voice.
I try to be like Orson Welles,
But I just don’t have his looks.

I try to be cool,
I try to be me,
I try to be somebody else.
I try to smile,
I try to brood,
I try just to get you to notice me.

Maybe if I acted like David Bowie?
Maybe then you’d notice me?
Maybe if I sung like John Lennon, ?
Maybe then you’d give it a go?
Maybe if I looked like Orson Welles?
Maybe you’d give me a smile?

I try to be cool,
I try to be me,
I try to be somebody else.
I try to smile,
I try to brood,
I try just to get you to notice me.
