I used to walk the desert trails,
All over Joshua Tree.
Amongst the coyotes and the cottontails,
Like them I too was free.
I roamed the wastelands all alone,
Amongst the rock strewn hills.
Listening every night to the desert's song,
Every single night a test of wills.
Now I dream of the desert sun,
And the desert willow tree.
Where the lord and I were one on one
Long ago, when I was free.
