I Want To Leave Poem by victoria martinez

I Want To Leave

Dipped my fingers into an old flame
Warmed my blood so that I could drain
I took my pen soft brushes describing our life
Words formed the world and rules we lived by
I wrote this book on broken love
I was the author and I edited out all the pain
I put your signature down where it said the one to blame
I suppose the lie of my blaming you should bring me shame
But, I feel you ruined this perfection
You let time eat us and eventually love passed us by
Left us with nothing to look forward to in the early morning
And at night there was only unmerciful sleep
And I suppose all the moments added up should make me weak
But when you plead for my hand it only brings YOU to your knees
This right here is what I lack…
I the courage to stab you in the back
I can’t get brave enough to say
I don’t love you anymore and I want to end this today
