I Was Gone Already Poem by Mousheera Shafik

I Was Gone Already

Every thing seem to be so white
Where am I?
What is that light that has a powerful bright?
What is that?
Why were you weeping all night?
Um alright.
Why are you so scared?
I've won the fight! !
And I made my vow,
When victory comes,
I'll go running every where,
Unfurl peace for humankind to share.
But, I see you crying still,
It's hard on me to bare.
Oh goodness, I figured it out now,
It's your tear that I can not dry,
It's your spirit that I can't make it fly,
It's your happiness that always die,
But… how is that happening? And why?
My oh my,
Um sorry liberty,
I thought I fought with dignity,
But I knew later,
I knew that my voice was strangled,
before I even say a word.
and I knew that my arms were bobtailed,
before I even drag my sword.
um sorry liberty,
I thought I was ready.
But, when I was about to do something,
I was gone already…..! !
