I Was Shortchanged Poem by Charity Nduhiu

I Was Shortchanged

Rating: 5.0

I was shortchanged by my only uncle
the only custodian of my land my only
inheritance from my mother attained
the title deed secretly ignoring my
existence just because i was young
and knowledgeless yes
i was shortchanged

Through neighbors and well wishers
somehow learned of the inheritance
lo it was long gone with a person
well known to me yes
i was shortchanged

The God of heaven and earth
is the giver of everything
I will not pray that he be punished
but Lord forgive him and grant me
strength to work hard and earn
my own because i think
i was shortchanged
