I Will Flee Poem by Kenneth Umunna

I Will Flee

From the troubles of zoe
The throes of love
The fallacies of lust
The destruction of infatuation
I will flee

From those who double talk
Who wallow in discouragement
Who sink my inner peace
Who see no good in me
I will flee

From barren lands
Where good seeds never grow
Where the sun’s heat melts the sand
Where rains dry up in the sky
I will flee

From filthy virgins
Whose light is very dark
Whose seed is that of another
Whose lies are sweet incense
I will flee

From troubled waters
Which roars beneath the feet
Which desires a step far up
Which craves to drown the soul
I will flee

From undue passion
Why not flee from it?
Why merry in ephemeral bliss?
Why jostle for wineless trays?
For me; I will flee
