I Will Still Be There Poem by Corey Campbell (BlackChild)

I Will Still Be There

Wasn't I there
when you stood and walked?
Wasn't I there
when you began to talk?

Wasn't I there
when you started school?
Now wasn't I there
when things weren't cool?

Wasn't I there
to laugh with your friends?
Wasn't I there
time and again?

Wasn't I there
for you to rely upon?
Wasn't I there
to cheer you on?

Now Son,
Wasn't I there
when things got rough?
Wasn't I there
to make you tough?

Wasn't I there
when you got sad?
Wasn't I there
to make you laugh?

Wasn't I there
to watch the games?
Wasn't I there
you called I came?

Even though I'm gone
but without despair.
I want you to know
I STILL WILL BE THERE.
