I Wish I Could Cry; I Hope I Can Cry... Poem by Almedia Knight-Oliver

I Wish I Could Cry; I Hope I Can Cry...

The day or night, when You or I say good-bye.
Now, one mouth speaking is a wish, and both mouths hope-
Her fiery words erupted like a volcano, words poured
on me like lava and surprised and shocked by the
unexpected, and then fear turned to anger, tried to
fight back but was unprepared and without words to
counter the fierce attack, and left her house with
eyes full of tears, and accusation held onto my mind
and the snores cursed all the while I slept.

What kind of music will be played the day or night when
You or I say that last good-bye? will the music be sweet
giving comfort to hearts and souls?

Then one or the other can write the back-story of life, a page or
two of a heart bleeding, from the slashes of that jagged tongue!

In dreadful pains, your body released jealousy, envy,
hatred, bitterness, and flatten me like a pancake
I poured your lies over them and ate them all!
Months later, I looked at the string tethering us,
forgave myself and then you, and still am asking why?
