I Wish My Neighbors Had More Interesting Trash Poem by Allan Thorne

I Wish My Neighbors Had More Interesting Trash

I have been checking out
The stuff in the Dumpster
For two years now.

I can’t say as I have found many
Abandoned treasures out there.
Mostly just empty water bottles,
Coffee grounds, and cereal boxes.

Not much in the way of
Literature either.
No back issues of 'Art in America'
No three month old copies
Of 'Architect’s Digest'.
I’ve never seen a used 'National Geographic'
Or a well read 'Readers Digest' in there.
These people don’t even throw out there 'TV Guides'.

Hell I’ve never seen an old copy of
'Hustler' or 'Big Butt Quarterly'
And you don’t even have to know
How to read to enjoy those.

My building is either inhabited
By illiterate a-sexual zombies
Or a bunch of computer geeks.
In any case I think I should move
I need something to read.
