I want you to know
kindness has it's cost
I want you to know
that I know it well

I feel the pain
of kindness in vain
I feel the stain of distrust
and the inner hurt and shame
of being disregarded
for sake of age, affiliation status or sex
as if kindness was just a game

Oh I know that others
have given reason for this distrust
protect yourself you must
but from here I feel the pain
of your shallowness
and your disdain

I wish you only to know
I came with an open heart
in kindness
becasue I seek only the same
