I Write (Revised) Poem by Raymond J Wright

I Write (Revised)

Rating: 5.0

I write
For the love of the words

I write for snowflakes and
Painted Daisies swaying in the summer breeze

I write for Shawn, fighting in Iraq, keeping me safe
(Can you hear me sing?)

I write for gentle spring rain and
The rustle of fallen autumn leaves

I write for Katherine Neville and her masterpiece, The Eight

I write for Christmas carols and
Halloween chocolate

I write for Bill, who always saves me and
For John, in the arms of the angels now
(Can you hear me cry?)

I write for Thunderstorms in August and
The songs and the voice on Gravity’s Rainbow

I write for you, James
For the whispers in my ear
The song that’s on my lips
The beating in my heart
For the quaking in my voice and
The shaking in my knees
For the glimmer in your eyes
The fingers on my spine
The sunlight in your smile and
The loving in your soul
