Ice Water Poem by Marilyn Lott

Ice Water

The water was coated with ice
As we drove over the 66 bridge
Winter had truly made its mark
As it gripped every single ridge

Frost-coated was our weather
But after all it was winter time
I love the brisk freshness though
As we leave hot summer behind

The water was frigid and clear
At least as far as I could see
There were ducks along the edge
That looked right up at me

They knew it wasn’t safe to swim
It was too cold to take a dip
I was cold as well and I felt
A kind of bird human kinship

But it was a relaxing day really
As the weather turned kinda bitter
But it was beautiful to look upon
The trees along the ice water!
