If A Hippo Said Boo Poem by Stephen Katona

If A Hippo Said Boo

If a hippo said boo,
To you,
Whilst paddling your canoe,
What would you do?

Would you say shoo,
Say how do you do,
Flap your arms like a cockatoo,
Jump into,
A crocodile's stew,
Or pretend you,
Are just a passing kangaroo?

Perhaps you,
Could offer him something new;
A fancy home in a sparkling zoo,
Bathing with sweet scented shampoo,
With all sorts of cake to chew.

I'd just say, 'phew',
I've been looking for you,
To ask your point of view,
On what people should do,
Before animals are too few.'
