If At First Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

If At First

A kaleidoscope of dreams
Were scattered on the yellow brick road...
I rushed in to capture them,
Arms out stretched.

In my haste, I stumbled on life's
Diamond speckled promises...
'Get Up! ' life yelled,
'Get Up and try again! '
