If I Ask Myself Why I Love You So Much (For Rifkah) Poem by Shalom Freedman

If I Ask Myself Why I Love You So Much (For Rifkah)

I will say simply,
‘It is because she has been with me all these years’

I will say
‘It is because even in old age and even in sickness
Your face remains the most beautiful of all faces’

I will say,
‘Because to hold you to be near you
Is to live again in a deeper way’

I will say,
'Because you have helped me in so many ways
'Because of you I have not been been lonely'

I will say
I love you so much
'Because you are my life now and will be to the end of my days'
