If I Forget You Jerusalem Poem by Leoul Mekonen

If I Forget You Jerusalem

The passion of my heart, my treasure
The first and last place I turn to
When my sprit needs a lift
You are the resting place for my soul
Jerusalem of the gold, you are my gift.
The jewel of my heart, Jerusalem
My forefather’s treasure, David’s City
Your divine nature subdue evil waves
For you are the source of tranquility!
How can I abandon or ignore?
Your beauty, joy and grace
Like my forefathers I vow to you
My love for you is timeless.
Listen, Jerusalem! I make a vow
Following a righteous course
Let my right hand forget her cunning
If I forget my solemn promise.
