If I Had Ever Lived Before
If I had ever lived before
What would I then have been
As a pauper low and poor
Or as a noble Queen
Would I have lived in gilded halls
Or walked the streets in rags
Owned portraits hung on silken walls
Or humble canvas bags
And did I dine at tables grand
With diamonds in my hair
Or walk bare-foot upon the sand
Just memories to share
But whate`er I might have been
Of this much I am sure
That rather than be rich and mean
`Tis better to be poor

Marvelous and brilliant piece of writing. I love your writings
Wise and wonderful words; I agree with Juan, you are indeed a world-class poet!
Peace.
Gorgeous write of reincarnation speculation and fabulous ending...tyvm karen
Would you have been as great at poetry, as now. I am doubtful, because with you true poetry has
been reborn. Melodious, thoughtful and just plain beautiful
A beautiful poem with a more beautiful conclusion! ! .....as always, your versification is great! !
Smoooooooooooooooth as silk on satin, Valerie...Virtually flawless metre and a rhyme sceme to match, this pen-gem breathes deep on the crisp, tightly cropt structure you have adritly employed, here...Solid craftsWO manship, young lady, indeed! ~FjR~
Exceptional poem! And very true! Kindness associated with empty pockets. I love it, love your inspiration (heart) for writing it, thank you! !
The last verse beams, and sums up this beautiful poem. Were nice if every heart felt that way. But, hopefully, many do.
