If I Write Nothing Today Poem by Shalom Freedman

If I Write Nothing Today

IF I WRITE NOTHING TODAY

If I write nothing today
And die today
If I write nothing tomorrow
And die the next day
If I never wrote a poem
And die tomorrow
If there is nothing I can do
And nothing I can say
To make my life real forever
If nothing is nothing
And nothing is more nothing
Then perhaps I should understand
The poem I have written
Is a prayer to God
For the life of those I love
And all I can do
Today or tomorrow
Is repeat this poem again and again
Until my own end on this earth.

Very thoughtful expression. A poem does not necessarily mean a verse written on a piece of paper. It is deeper than that. It can be unwritten yet reaching out to the stars. Thanks, Shalom. Is a prayer to God For the life of those I love
