If There Is No Other Day! Poem by Ashkan Ansari

If There Is No Other Day!

If there is no other day!
Does it matter who I am or who I was?
If I was like an angle or dark like an evil clause.
Does it matter if tulips grow from my dust?
Or thistles cover my tomb as a totem for star-crossed?

If there is no other day!
Does it matter to giveaway my body to the never ended sea?
Or cover me by the treasured earth of my homeland and set my soul free?
Dose it matter if I become dust and ash?
Riding on the northern wind and gone like a flash!

If there is no other day!
Does it matter that everyone calls my name?
Buried with honor at the height of my fame!
Or died in the nowhere land, nameless and alone!
No grave and no shadow, no name and unknown!

Hey you! The one who fight me!
We are brothers, from one mother land.
Why standing against me? We should protect our land!
I've just called you my brother, call me back
You are my brother, I won't fight you back.
Imagine once that there won't be another day!
Call me your brother as I did, and say:
"We are brothers; no one can make us sever"
"God bless us and our homeland forever! "

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In the summer of 2009, the people of Iran demonstrate against the result of presidential election. The government showed a brutality on the streets of Tehran and other cities which was unique for Iran. Nevertheless the ones who fight the people were also Iranians. This tragedy was the cause I have written this poem to tell them that we are all brothers and sisters. To tell them that there is no reason to kill your own people, to tell them that we are all humans.
