If We Were What We Were Poem by Genieve Valentine

If We Were What We Were

If we were what we were,
And you were my ‘him’ and I was your ‘her’,
Then our love will still show,
As together we’ll continue to grow,

If the summer’s sky were to turn gray,
What if the flowers didn’t bloom in May;
Would our love truly stay,
Even if the skies have turned gray,

What if I were your night,
And you were the darkness to my light,
Would you still take away my fright,
And make everything seem alright?

As far as I can understand,
I do believe that you still can,
We’ll start with a simple plan,
And walk hand in hand,

You see I love you in a very special way,
A little more each and every day,
“I LOVE YOU” is what I’ll always say,
Even though our flowers don’t always bloom in May.
