Ignorant Innocence Poem by Kalee Skriver

Ignorant Innocence

As the rivers flow along the crest,
there comes a feeling within my breast.
To ride the waves in pure delight,
my soul cries out for such a sight.
Little children playing in the sand,
oh look here comes a marching band!
The joys of youth I see in you,
a giant heart built just for two.
We can play all day, and sleep all night,
I shall never let you from my sight.
To lose such a pure and innocent soul,
that would cause my head to roll.
I long to see more like you,
yet I'm afraid there are but a few.
Why can’t we teach the world to dance,
in happy wonder for any chance?
In reflection, I know we can,
be but a calm and happy, wistful clan.
Today I seek only for a fateful kiss,
that would show the world how ignorance is bliss.
