Illusion's Love Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Illusion's Love

Rating: 3.5

You watched me fall
your Ego Feasting
and I perversely
enjoyed
your gluttony
because it was
a back-handed joy
you allowed your self.

I did not need for you
to return the love
you thought I offered
because your joy
at my attentions
to me
seem to make you happier
than I had ever seen you be.

It is a rising from despair
I was witnessing
and that to me
was
almost enough
no, more than enough
to give me
more than
I asked for
or needed.

So we
in lopsided fashion
related:
your consuming
what you took for love
and I relishing
my own private joy
in seeing you
joyous
your Love's Illusion
of my love
freely
offered
because so often
Love's Illusion
is all each one
to the other
is offered
and often
that is enough
until
Love's Love
is proffered
such that
when seen
it is embraced
each having
recognized the real thing
because of having
first felt
Illusion's
Being
in Puppy Love's
Practicing.
