Imaginary Friend Poem by Edwina Reizer

Imaginary Friend

I had an imaginary friend.
He came to me alone.
He smiled as though he knew me well
but to me he was unknown.
My father was upset with me.
My mom said 'Let her be.'
And so my friend who played with me,
no one else could see.

In my room I'd wait for him
and when he did appear
I asked him where he came from?
He told me very near.
I asked him what his name was?
He said 'You pick a name.'
I chose the name 'Invisible'
and then we played a game.
'Now you see me. Soon you won't
but don't you worry when you don't
'Cause imaginary friends don't ever last.
They leave and go away.
Just try and remember the fun we had
forever and a day.'
