Immersion Poem by Fiona Eris Strand

Immersion

Rating: 5.0

We are two bricks at the bottom of the sea. We have no mouths we have no eyes.
The water hurts but we can't leave.
We are not rocks anymore, that was manufactured away. Both of us crushed, held together only by clay.
Drowning in a home that is now strange.
Even though I couldn't see you, I knew you were there. I tried to ignore you.
You reminded me of the air.
I'm sorry now for what I've done. I'm filled only with remorse. I've alienated the only other one.
Please let me know you still feel we're the same. And that time has not made you crumble away.
Two bricks at the bottom of the sea. That is all I'll ever care to be.
