Immigration Poem by Kumarmani Mahakul

Immigration

Rating: 5.0

People immigrate for food, shelter and clad,
It brings sometimes sorrow sometimes glad.
For immigration they do leave native place,
Some do with a hope to get wealth and bless.

Educationist like scientist or engineer,
Move towards another country to earn heavier.
There they serve and gradually they settle,
They forget their kindred, native land, cattle.

Immigrated people neglect to look after parents,
The nonagenarians are helpless and become patients.
They have suspicion on imminent pain and rue,
Is huge amount money brings happiness true?

The octogenarians also think about their sons,
They are their expectation, not so all the funds.
In their own country they lead life in lento.
Sons are in foreign country, wealth is motto.

With all family members immigration may well,
It may bring love, happiness and peaceful dwell.
But it must bring bliss when we pray God in love,
Happiness with peace comes if greed is to dissolve.

picture of Fay Slimm xSuch a sad message and so well expressed in this needed reminder that wealth is never the answer to parental care - love shown is by far the best way. For food and shelter people migrate from one place to another. This poem is very nice.

This searching poem gave me the the idea of writing 'The Migrant'. It is sad if immigrants acquire wealth in their new country, but do not look after their elderly parents. There is not enough respect for older people in the world, and in my country there is too much 'elder abuse'.

Nice about migration! Leaf carries letter. Calmness is inside own mind. This we should feel. Soul is pure. Nature impacts on soul. This is a great poem and you are a nice poet.
