In Absolute Secrecy

Kannada Poem: Sumatindra Nadig

She already knows that I know
That she knows the secret;
You know it now, but mind you
Don't let her know
That now you know it too.

The secret is the same, but
The context is different,
And that makes the secret a different one.
Don't even whisper secretly
That you have her secret undone.

The secret which I told you,
If I tell that to some one else,
It is not the same secret any more.
For you don't have a clue
Of what I told the other Signor.

If you do tell this secret to others,
Just make sure to add in the end
Not to tell that secret to any one.
If she found out that her secret is out,
She is sure to shoot me down with a gun.

If you do tell this secret to others,
Do it so that even I won't know.
Upon secrets friendships are made
And friendships are broken on secrets,
You got to be careful in this trade.
She already knows that I know
That she knows the secret;
You know it now, but mind you
Don't let her know
That now you know it too.
