In and Quickly Out

Tick, tock
Another minute gone
I can't shake you
Your face frozen in time

They are sinful
My thoughts of you
My life will end
In fire and ice

His smile wicked
Greeting his new guest
My mind no longer mine
But his alone

Hardened steel
Collar for his pet
Ice cold on my neck
What have I done?

My heart frozen
My body torched
What little remains
Will always be yours

What do I regret
What would I do
To stop the pain
New hope ensues

Metal broken
His reign faltering
One has fled
Forever gone from him

My life has ended
In fire and ice
Cool skin
Warm lips

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When the hours of Day are numbered,
And the voices of the Night
Wake the better soul, that slumbered,
To a holy, calm delight;

Ere the evening lamps are lighted,
