In-Between The Rain Poem by glen salem

In-Between The Rain

On this warm summer morning
So much to do my mind is soaring

Our family picnic is today where do I begin
Soon all of the out-of-towners will come in

What do I do first the outside table needs a wash
I can't wait to eat some of Annie's summer squash

The phone is ringing oh what a pain
The question is "what if there's rain"

Come anyway I want to see all of you
I heard the sky today would be only blue

Among the hugs and all of the laughter
I really miss uncle Charles the old master

I think of those not here with a long stare
You can just see them sitting at every empty chair

The picnic is great everyone is so loud
High in the sky grows a small dark cloud

People scatter the rain is here
Find some cover till the coast is clear

Some are happy and some are mad
It's just rain come on it's not that bad

Some said the picnic was great... in between the rain
They were unhappy to be rubbing their shirt of a stain

I could hear the Old Master like a bell with a heavenly ring
Everything happens in-between the rain... yes everything
