In Life On Earth... Poem by Dr John Celes

In Life On Earth...

The more, you try to be an honest man,
The more, the trials seem to come to you;
The more good deeds in life, you try to do,
The more, the strife and problems arise new.

The more, you try avoiding sinfulness,
The more of tensions gather within you;
The more spiritual, man is bent to be,
The more the devils tempt miserably.

The more you walk on righteous road with God,
The more, the world makes fun of you and scoffs;
The more you delve in piety and truth,
The more the world ridicules you and laughs.

But not for long as equations do change;
The storms of life give rise to times of calm;
Truth triumphs always finally in life;
God puts an end to tribulations, strife.

The God of goodness loves all righteous souls;
He abhors fools and wicked people much;
The wicked ones remain like wind-blown chaff;
The Shepherd good retrieves lost sheep by staff.
