In Love And War Poem by Arta Krasniqi

In Love And War

It was not the best time
to be in love
but strangest things
happen when least
expected
she thought
touching his face
like a blind woman
trying to recognize it
her palms learned
by heart
the structure of his bones
and her eyes
once they opened
and saw him
knew they could
not blink
for any other man!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

This poem reflects FIND ME, even the title could be equally applied, but in this one the situation seems tense and even dangerous. But in a time of war with violence unleashed against often innocent people, love becomes even more important as an assertion of the Good Life we desire and the humane values we promote. This poem is so powerful as one person literally traces the shape of her heart's desire and we see the beloved face appearing as if by magic. But it's not magic, is it? You mean this to be true love, right? This could be the scene from a film set at a time of war when all people really want is safety for their loved ones. My mother really loved a film from the late 1940s about soldiers coming home from World War II and being reunited with their families and friends. It was called THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, and she cried every time she watched it, but they were tears of relief.
