# # # In My Mind's Eye

I take a breath
I take a step
And look as far as I can see
Then close my weary jaded eyes
To dream (of you and me)

I take a breath
Another step
Upon this crumbling patch of earth
But in my mind
I have heaven-bound wings

I like this one Sonya, rythmic and simple, the opening verse makes me start to smile. But the second verse falters, then 'crumbling'...breaks down in sadness.
Can you roll it back...pick up the positive thread? (Report) Reply

I love the simple language in this. The heaven-bound wings is a colorful image too.

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
