In My Place Poem by Rachel Brewer

In My Place

Rating: 2.0

Darkness spreads throughout the trees,
And the moon begins to glow.
Crackling of the fallen leaves,
Makes my breathing slow.
One foot in front of the other,
my speed begins to build.
Another moment in this dreadful place,
And surely, I will be killed.
Looking cautiously around at all times,
A river glistens to my right.
Afraid to stare at things for too long,
I really wasn't in the mood for a fight.
My skills are fine, good, some may say,
But I really didn't want to test them.
Of all the creatures and things in the night,
Theres no way I could best them.
So I will continue to pace,
Far and wide,
Maybe I could think of a place to hide?
Throughout the shadows the evil creeps,
And over to me it slowly seeps.
I feel the energy,
The dark embrace.
Watching, waiting,
To put me in my place.
