In Search Of Christ Poem by Michael P. Johnson

In Search Of Christ

We go to church as millions do
We sing and sometimes weep
We think to be God’s chosen few
Yet still we fall asleep

Not every church does Jesus reign
That bears His holy name
Not all within are born again –Jn.3: 3
Nor saved from sin and shame

God knows the harm some people say
What even preaches tell
Some think to show God’s sheep the way
Yet oft that way is hell

Too oft a child who seeks The vine
Will enter to be fed
But yet partake of bread and wine
With some still walking dead

The day of Christ is sure to come
Of this there is no doubt
Then those in church still playing dumb
May find He’s locked them out!

No man or priest can keep you there
Arise on Jesus’ wing
Seek now The Lord who’ll show you where
You won’t just sit and sing

We need to come whilst yet there’s time
Where Christ is truly Lord
We must be free wayward crime
If we’re to flee the sword

Make certain that you’ve Christ yourself
Within a church of grace
Where man keeps no one on the shelf
And where you’ve found your place…
