In Search Of Loneliness Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

In Search Of Loneliness

I long to be alone.
But I do not even know
What is being lonely.
Surrounded all my life,
I get so hot
And cramped:
Too much love.
I am overflowing.
Attached, I have become blind.
My heart closing
Like a flower at night,
Dormant.
The same music
Different sounds.
The same faces
Different looks.
I think and speak like them
I look and walk like them.
Nothing of me, I am a stranger to myself
The one I am looking for,
The reason of my desire to be alone
Is not here.
He is playful and
Chafing the heart is his favourite pastime.
He likes loneliness.
Not the one
Where you are dismayed.
But where you play and are happy,
Where you shed those old useless
Chattels and pride,
Where the chest heaves and
Sobs beg to explode;
That loneliness I am looking for,
Where like the lotus
I am in the world
But not of it.

Loneliness is something sad, but at the same time it helps us knowing inner self through meditation... I loved the way you expressed it beautifully.

Loneliness has a habit of finding you and not letting go.
