In Search Of Rapa Nui Poem by Kelly Vinal

In Search Of Rapa Nui

Rating: 4.5

I was bright and all alone,
In the middle of the sea -
A moai bust chiseled from the stone,
One thousand miles from Rapa Nui.
I was once a captain’s timepiece,
Stopped precisely at the impact -
Intense and lonely, like our sun,
Swimming in its own ocean.
I was once a dormant fissure -
Asleep, I drifted out like tides,
And ventured into situations -
From love and dreams, to debt and life.
I was light and unrenowned,
One little droplet in the sea -
Drifting silent with the wood,
In search of Rapa Nui.
