In The Aftermath Poem by Julie Dant

In The Aftermath

In the aftermath….
I lie cradled still in your arms
Languid
Satiated
Peaceful at long last…

In the aftermath….
I press my ear against your chest
Listening
Hearing
The rhythm of the slowing beats…
.
In the aftermath….
My body still writhes with the softness
Of your slowly caressing hands up and down my back
Feathery
Silken
Your touch remains electric….

In the aftermath….
I press my mouth into the warm softness of your neck
And feel against my ever-searching lips the pulsing there.
Strong
Racing
Just beginning it's ebb back toward normalcy….

In the aftermath….
I lift my head to look into your always loving and still dark with passion eyes
and discover in their depths that my soul has merged with yours
Beautiful
epiphany!
Entwined together for eternity….
