In The Days Of Waiting For Recognition Poem by Shalom Freedman

In The Days Of Waiting For Recognition

In the days of waiting for recognition
Life has passed
Years of waiting
Years passed-

How could I know then
That in the end
It would come to less than nothing
And all that dream and ambition
All that striving for greatness
Would end in failure and regret?

I walked a long road
I was faithful to it
But it came to nothing
And now near the end
It suddenly has become more difficult
To go on pretending
I have something to say to others.
