In The Hands Of Time Poem by Yewande Adedokun

In The Hands Of Time

The breeze blows slowly you can see it on the ocean
Everything taking simple distinct slow motion

We could act a movie here but Am the only one for now
A moment with myself I almost forget the blood stains on my brow

I was in a fight down town today
It started with an anger that feels like ache

They were under the shade talking amiss
Maybe it was about me but I did not hear a thing

Took a short walk towards them, they were barely humans
They were barely beasts too not even mammals

I was harmless but they charged at me, so rude
Just wanted to be a friend to these things, which I have no clue

I had to walk away but they keep charging for a fight
All these were shots in time as right

Scrambling from the ground
I just wanted to go, I made no sound

Set to go on the road I have been beaten blue black
I turned to look back

But they were not talking, moving or charging
The three of them were still, seem not breathing

I put my hand to stop the bleed from my eyes
They were not blinking no life of them in my sight

I ran towards them
Might be that they exist at a given time or realm

I pushed down the three with all the power in me
They did not fight back they did nothing

I got so angry
I want time to make them exist so they can see what I did

But nothing happened they lay at my foot like stones
I finally turned to go

Follow the direction of the wind
It brought me to the shore of this ocean where wind tweaks

Hope they will find me here the second time
Since their life seem to be in the hands of time

I will wait
They will one day wake to see all I did no matter how long it takes

There s a certain way one feels when you do something glorious and people just look away like it never happened, like it never mattered. but it matters to you and you feel something so strong to stand by it
